A Blast From The Marquee Past

A Blast From The Marquee Past

Posted By: Charlotte

Here at CMC Marquees, we’ve been reminiscing about some magnificent marquees we’ve erected. We just can’t seem to get them out of our minds, so we thought would share some old memories with you.

The Grange Belluton

Last June, this marquee lay comfortably tucked away in its glorious green surroundings. The first thing one could see was a Chinese hat entrance which poked its pointy head out from the scenery.

As guests walked through the entrance and into the marquee, window walls ran along one side, looking out onto the vast expanse of beautiful gardens.

Panoramic window walls running along the side of the marquee, so guests can see their surroundings.

On the other side, half the length of the marquee had window walls, allowing guests to see the flower-filled bushes that lined the west wall of the venue. The rest of the walls were dressed with ivory pleated linings which masked the catering annex hidden behind it. The roof was also covered in these linings and had pea lights running through them. It looked extremely elegant.

Long trestle tables ran the length of the marquee, with Chiavari chairs perfectly placed alongside them. The tables were beautifully decorated with blue water glasses, stunning flowers and of course, lots of wine.  We laid a parquet dancefloor at the near end of the marquee, ready to host the guests in the evening.

Oh, please take us back to this glorious day.

Thatchers Wassail

Last January, we were joyfully Wassailing in Somerset in one of our stunning marquees.

Wassailing is a tradition of processioning around trees to encourage a good harvest, and the production of delicious apples.

We were working alongside Alastair Currie Events, and wanted to pull out all the stops.

On concrete, we built our impressive marquee over our steel based hard wood flooring, and rolled out a stylish beige carpet. Being the middle of January, it was pretty cold outside. We used heaters to warm up the place, and make it feel nice and cosy for the guests. Although the cider ended up doing just as good a job.

The Wassail Queen and the Green Man lead the parade through the entrance and into the spectacular marquee, which was later filled with magical performances; from fire breathing to Morris dancing. As the entertainment was a central feature to the event, we used clear roof panels in the middle of the marquee – the first CMC marquee like it – which gave the perfect focal point for the audience. The panels were decorated with festoon lights, enhancing the festive glow.

A catering annex was attached to the back of the tent, where delicious food was prepared and brought out to the guests, who were sat at vintage wooden tables, decorated with candles and ivy to create a warm winter feel. The tables were around the outside of the central parquet dance floor, perfect for watching the performers and dancing later on.

Thank you to Alastair Currie Events for organising such an a-peeling event.
